My real name is Giuseppina but everyone calls me Pina. I lived in Weehawken for the first few years of my life; at 18 months old I was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor, a type of kidney cancer that occurs in very young children and then some time later dealt with another occurrence but thankfully I have been cancer free since the age of 4. While it was a difficult time for my entire family I believe it contributed to me being a strong, positive, and inspiring individual so I wouldn't change it for the world! My family moved to Little Ferry when I was 7 years old, where I continue to live with my family. I attended high school in Ridgefield Park where I was a 4 year varsity cheerleader for all 4 years, and was selected to be a captain during my senior year. I attended beauty school immediately after graduating high school so that I could fulfill my dream of becoming a hairstylist and make-up artist with the hope of helping people feel good about themselves. My dream is becoming a reality! While in beauty school I was hired by a salon to be a stylists’ assistant and that helped me learn a lot about the industry as well as the people in it. Fast forward 5 years – I am a stylist in the same salon! About a year ago I realized that while I was doing something to help my clients feel good about themselves I had forgotten about my own personal well-being. I was about 35 pounds heavier than I ought to be and wasn’t feeling good at all; I joined Aurora Womens Fitness and began my healthy lifestyle journey. I wanted to feel good, get healthy and lead by example! I joined in March, 2011 and believe I am a good example of the possibilities that lie within all of us when we dedicate ourselves to something and make it a priority in our lives; I am truly amazed at how far I've come. It's been an amazing journey and experience, from student to RPM teacher in training and preparing to attend BODYPUMP training in the near future. My goal is continue growing and inspiring others to do the same.
